We're headed to the Giving Tree! Bring some food and/or clothing to donate ... or just bring yourself! Join us in the North parking lot of St. Andrew's at 3:30 on any or all of the following Sundays: April 13th ~ April 27th ~ May 11th We will return by 6:00 in time for THE WELL. The mission of The Giving Tree Outreach Program, is to support and improve the quality of life for children, families, elderly and disabled individuals. The Giving Tree is a faith-based organization committed to being an instrument in breaking the cycle of poverty, homelessness, and abuse in this community of disadvantaged and under-served individuals. This is accomplished through distribution of hot meals, food boxes, clothing, tutoring mentoring, transportation, referrals, and providing a residence for homeless and transitional children to allow them an opportunity to experience a secure and enduring family home.
Let's state the obvious: Tucson is hot in the summer! Last summer, THE WELL community partnered with the Tucson PLanning Council for the Homeless for "Operation Chill Out". THE WELL community worked hard gathering water and collected and distributed over 400 CASES of water...that's over 10,000 bottles of water! We delivered water to homeless people at parks, Youth on Their Own, The Giving Tree, Food Kitchens & The Salvation Army. Look for information coming soon as we prepare to provide water again in 2008!
